With the success from her debut 'Karma', RYA returns with her new single 'Impasse'. Merging her fierce pop sound with a soft mellow tone which creates a more connected experience with her listeners. With alluring melodies and incredible harmonies, she gently bounces over a simple indie retro beat. Her introspective lyrics set a mood which reveals a melancholic side, surrounding the story of a deadlock point in a relationship. Knowing that things have become different but not wanting to break the cycle and end it, it's a subject which rings true with many of us.
She explains that 'I tend to ruminate a lot so it's quite cathartic to put those persistent thoughts into music. That's what this song is for me, it's the swirling of thoughts that end up on a merry-go-round in your head, kind of like a turntable. The song is about relationships ending whether they are romantic or otherwise, the decision is always a struggle where neither side is capable of winning or willing to give in. One side being your head and the other your heart.'
RYA is a female singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from South West London. Never one to sit idly, RYA is also currently studying medicine, bartending as well as a part-time model featuring in ads and music videos, with the likes of Wiley, Stefflon Don and Sean Paul and 'I Know You' by Craig David ft. Bastille.
